Twyla | Haunted Twilight Penguin-Imp | Hobby VTuberIt’s cold & lonely down here in the Afterice, but I’m glad you found your way to me— stay a while & I’ll be sure to guide you to some fun (with some scares along the way).Business: [email protected]

Twyla is a new Hobby VTuber from the United States who loves to stream in her free time after her 9 to 5 corporate job as a Graphic Designer. She mainly streams spooky & cozy games, but will occasionally branch out to other games she finds personal interest in. Twyla started streaming as a way to help overcome her social anxiety, with even greater hopes of simultaneously being able to help others find happiness through her streams (even if only just a small amount). In the future, she has dreams of learning on streams with her viewers (drawing, languages, & coding), telling spooky stories to her viewers, & eventually hopefully overcoming her fear of karaoke/cover song singing!

Death had been looking for workers for many, many years across the realms in which she held dominion.Finding an eternal employee to chauffeur the dead to their afterlife wasn’t an easy task, and no cosmic entity nor human soul wished to be bound to the eternity of aiding others… Except one. Twyla, before her soul was shaped by Death into a proper body, was mere but moonlight and stardust that shimmered expectantly. The atoms floating between her soon-to-be form sparked Death's interest. Death took her atoms, clumped them together, and created a body, a form of both imp and bird-like nature, to create Twyla as she was always meant to be. Existent.Death knew immediately what Twyla was meant for. The ice beneath her feet shifted to her command, even though her voice remained a low, untrained whisper. The world around her seemed to call out, attempting to siphon her power and become something more– Twyla, eventually, obliged. The cliffs shifted and cracked as a thick layer of snow and ice covered their surface and the plains below. The world, once dark and shadowed with nothingness, morphed into a world Twyla wished for– covered in bright, colorful lights that swayed and sparkled in the sky above, reflecting their beauty into the ice below. The Afterice, she called it, a world she was meant to protect, for all of time. With time and practice, Twyla’s body began to mold itself to the realm around her. Her body became more resistant to the cold, able to withstand the Afterice's intense frigidity for prolonged periods, and her connection to the spirits around her grew stronger. Before this development, her conversations with the spirits were brief, offering only quick comfort to aid their passage. With time, centuries, and possibly millennia, Twyla grew more powerful. The side of her connected to this realm, implike in nature, festered into something new.The connections she once held with spirits, guiding them along the icy paths to their peaceful or damning afterlives, grew thicker, more taut with emotion and an understanding of their struggles, until one day they all spilled over into an amalgamation of chaos.Twyla wasn’t sure when it began, but she remembered the midst of it– Being locked away in the back of her mind, the movements of her body utterly out of her control as a rather angry spirit took hold of her, grasping the reins of her very being and abusing them. It threw her around for what felt like hours, clawing at the snow and ice, attempting to free itself from its incoming damnation– To no avail.Twyla faded in and out of consciousness until she finally woke, swaddled in a thick, fluffy blanket of snow, her face damp with tears and something akin to makeup.Upon waking up and familiarizing herself with both what had happened and where she was in that moment, Twyla came to the conclusion that her connection to the realm was far too potent to remain there any longer. As much as she adored her role as a reaper and a guider of souls, the longer she remained in the realm, the stronger that connection became– And she was afraid she could’ve lost herself in it.Twyla retreated to the small home she had made for herself, and she researched. Books on different realms filled her shelves, informing her of the spirits that would inevitably wander into her home. This time, as her eyes glazed over the words, she was looking for something different– A vacation, of sorts. A place to wait out the turmoil within her and attempt to reconnect with the balance of who she once was. After a few weeks of avoiding her work, Twyla found something knocking at her door. Responsibility, she assumed, or some formal warning from Death herself to remind her to get back on track– But when she opened the wooden entrance, she found a small penguin, about the size of her lower body, staring up at her with a curious expression. Its body was partially translucent, with a ghostly gray tinge. Twyla quickly recognized it as an astray spirit. The penguin quickly made itself at home within her small house, making its way up to the bookshelves and nudging around. Twyla watched, shocked, as the spirit, one that clearly was not meant to be here, plucked a book from the shelf and plopped it onto her center table. The book’s title was large and quite easy to read. ‘Earth,’ it said simply, with no further explanation on the cover.Twyla picked up the book incredulously, flicking her gaze from the pages, then back to the penguin. After a thorough interrogation of the penguin and its connections to the book, she quickly found that it could only respond in high-pitched coos, and it was quite adamant about her observing the book further.“Here?” She questioned softly, tapping the cover. “This is where I should go? How did you know I was looking for a place to stay?”The penguin floated up to her, closing its eyes and pressing its head against the back of her hand. With a moment of focus, Twyla could feel the energy easing off its soft head– The same as hers. She had somehow managed to split her energy and create a companion, a being meant to accompany her on this journey, whatever chaos it may hold. The creation of her companion was enough to solidify her decision. The next morning, Twyla requested a meeting with Death, in which she explained the situation as thoroughly and sweetly as she could. Death, quite interested in the matter, made a compromise with Twyla. If she could find a way to harness the energy of souls within the realm of Earth and funnel them back to the afterlife through her newfound abilities, she could remain there however long she may need.So Twyla and her new companion set out on a journey with a common goal. Find lost souls and guide them to the Afterice.
